Good Japanese YouTube channels for advanced learners of Japanese

Japanese YouTube Channels for Advanced Learners

Watching Japanese YouTube channels is one of the most effective ways to learn Japanese. I can’t stress enough how important immersion is in acquiring Japanese, but that’s not what this post is about.

YouTube offers thousands of hours of content that you can use for immersion. However, as a more advanced Japanese learner, finding interesting content that suits your level can be quite difficult.

That’s why in this post, I will show you 19 Japanese YouTube channels for advanced learners of Japanese.

How to Watch Japanese YouTube

First, you should create a new YouTube account that you use for nothing else than watching Japanese videos. By doing that the YouTube algorithm will only show you other Japanese videos.

This will allow you to find more and more content that you find interesting.

Next, you want to find channels to watch. But finding quality content that isn’t just somebody eating 5kg of ramen noodles is quite difficult (just take a look at what’s trending on YouTube Japan…).

That’s why I created this list of Japanese YouTube channels for adcanced learners. I divided them into categories so that it’s easier for you to navigate this post and find channels that you’d be interested in.

Japanese YouTube Channels for Adcanced Learners

Exept for the first category about Japanese news channels I will include the channel name, a video, the amount of subscribers, information on how frequently they post and a link to their channel.

Here’s also a quick overview so that you can click on the category you’re interested in.

The purpose of this post is to provide more advanced learners of Japanese with interesting Japanese channels. So, if you know of any YouTuber that I should include in this list, leave a comment with a link.

Japanese News on YouTube

I find that watching Japanese news on youtube is a great way to learn Japanese. The main reasons are that they are relevant, there’s new content every single day and that the Japanese used is rather high-level.

So here are some Japanese news channels on YouTube:

Educational / Book "Review" YouTube Channels

If you like channels like PolyMatter, WendoverProduction, RealLifeLore or Curious Elephant then I have some Japanese ones that are quite similar to those.

There are also many who summerise non-fiction books and animate everything in a nice way.

So here are some educational Japanese YouTube channels.
